Greenpoint Beer & Ale Co operates behind a glass wall at the back of Dirck the Norseman, Brooklyn’s first brewpub (named after Dirck Volckersten, the first recorded European settler of the Greenpoint area). One of the most recent additions to the Brooklyn brewing scene, the brewery just started serving its beer, currently only available in house, in the Spring of 2014.  The large Gothic/industrial space boasts an immense central bar and many beer-garden style tables that invite patrons to spend a relaxing afternoon working through the tap list.

Owner Ed Raven is well-known in the Greenpoint beer scene: he owns the nearby Brouwerij Lane beer store and founded the beer importer RavenBrands. Brewers Chris Prout and Erik Olsen, who met at Brouwerij Lane, produce a regularly rotating tap-list that is both fun and refreshing, with offerings that range from their “Oui Oui” saison  to a sour named “When Life Hands You...Kettle Sour”.
